Backyard Basketball Court Installation
in Bergen County, NJ

Basketball is the build that started it all for us. Mini-courts for small yards (20 × 25 ft), half-courts for most NJ families, full regulation builds for serious players — we install every size, every surface, every color across Bergen County. Free quote in your inbox within 24 hours.

Why a Backyard Basketball Court?

There's a reason basketball is the #1 service we build. A court in your backyard means no more waiting for the local park, no more driving the kids 20 minutes to practice, no more rained-out games on a wet driveway. It means morning shoot-arounds, summer tournaments with the neighbors, and a place where your kids actually want to be after school.

And it's an investment that pays back. A well-built court adds real value to your home and sees use every season — spring through fall on the surface, year-round if you add lighting.

How We Build Backyard Basketball Courts in Bergen County

We size every court to your yard and your game. The four configurations we install most often:

Mini-Court (20 × 25 ft)

Perfect for smaller backyards, tight side-yards, or under-deck installs. Fits one adjustable hoop, key, free-throw line, and a short three-point arc. Great for kids learning the game and adults wanting a quick shoot-around. Most mini-court builds complete in 1–2 weeks.

Half-Court (Most Popular)

30 × 30 ft to 30 × 50 ft — the sweet spot for most NJ backyards. Three-point line, foul line, restricted area — everything regulation, scaled to fit. Most builds complete in 2–3 weeks.

Full-Court Basketball

50 × 84 ft NBA-style for larger properties. Two hoops, full markings, tournament-grade. The dream build for serious players.

Basketball + Pickleball Combo

Two sports on one surface with overlaid color-coded lines and portable net systems. The best-value build if pickleball is in your family's future.

Every build includes professional site prep, drainage engineering, regulation court markings, and your choice of hoop. We also install LED court lighting and perimeter fencing alongside the court if you want a complete finished build. We're an Authorized VersaCourt Dealer.

The Hoops

The court is only half of it. We install the two best in-ground hoop systems on the market — MegaSlam and Dominator — alongside every court build. Or bring us any hoop you've already purchased and we'll install it as part of the project.

Already Bought a Hoop?

We install any hoop you've already purchased as part of your court build — Goalrilla, Spalding, Lifetime, Mammoth, all of them. No upcharge for using a brand we don't sell. Tell us during the consultation and we'll size the court markings to your hoop's overhang and footing.

Reviews from Bergen County Families

"We had a muddy slope behind the house. Now we have the cleanest half-court in town. The kids haven't come inside since installation, and I've actually started shooting around again at 45. Best money we've spent on the house."
The Reilly Family · Closter, NJ · Half-court VersaCourt tile
"I got three quotes for a full-court. The Backyard Court Company was the only one that gave us a real written estimate in the same week, walked us through every option, and delivered exactly what they promised. On time, on budget."
Marcus D. · Saddle River, NJ · Full-court acrylic on concrete
"We wanted basketball and pickleball without giving up two yards. The combo court is perfect. Kids on basketball during the day, my wife and I and neighbors on pickleball in the evening. Use it every single day."

Frequently Asked Questions

How much space do I need for a backyard basketball court?

A mini-court fits in just 20 × 25 ft — perfect for smaller yards. A half-court plays best at 30 × 50 ft (30 × 30 ft minimum). Full-court basketball needs 50 × 84 ft for regulation, though we can scale to your yard. We'll measure and confirm during the free consultation.

How long does basketball court installation take?

Most half-court builds complete in 2–3 weeks. Full-court builds take 4–6 weeks. Concrete-based builds take longer due to cure time; VersaCourt tile over an existing base is fastest.

Can I install a basketball court over my existing slab?

Yes, if your slab is structurally sound, level, and drained properly we can install VersaCourt tile or acrylic coating directly over it. We'll evaluate during the consultation and tell you honestly if a tear-out is needed.

What hoops do you install?

We're the exclusive installer for tournament-grade Dominator hoops — 60" and 72" tempered-glass backboards, 6061-T6 aluminum frames, 7'-to-10' adjustable height, rust-proof for life. We also offer in-ground portable systems if you want flexibility.

Do I need a permit?

Most Bergen County towns require a zoning or building permit for a backyard sport court. We handle the entire permit process as part of the install. We're familiar with Tenafly, Closter, Alpine, Demarest, and Saddle River codes.

Can I add lighting?

Yes. We install LED court lighting (single or dual-head, 5000K cool white, dimmable) alongside the court. Solar and hardwired options available.

Do you install fencing around the court?

Yes — perimeter fencing is part of most of our basketball court builds. Standard 10-ft chain-link with windscreen is common; black powder-coated mesh is the more modern look. We size the fence to your sport, your yard, and your preference, and include the gate & entry system in the same project.

What's the warranty?

VersaCourt tile carries a manufacturer lifetime warranty — transferable to a new homeowner. Other surfaces and components carry their respective manufacturer warranties. We don’t add a separate contractor warranty on top — we install to manufacturer spec and let the brand stand behind their product.
